There’s nothing inherently wrong with automation or even ‘machine learning’. But I have no interest in language-guessing machines built on surveillance and exploited labor and abandoned climate goals – sold back to us as a replacement for expertise.
I have no interest in trusting a black-box information-laundering machine built by weapons contractors and the worst guys on Sir Tim’s World Wide Web.
It’s a product designed to reframe bias as hidden truth, and deflect accountability onto a fancy slab of electrified rocks. Some people will tell you that it works, and I agree. But we disagree about what it’s designed to do.
